We’re very excited to announce that we will have commissioned a unique, new, interactive artwork for the Chesterfield Children’s Festival 2023!

‘The Garden of Imagination’ will combine sound sensors, props, live music, visual and sensory play opportunities, plus a new interactive storytelling performance created with the help of three local primary schools.

Artists; Monika Johnson, Phil Pearson and Rachel Scanlon are bringing together their combined experience of visual arts, sounds and stage to create a new partnership for the project.   They will work with year four pupils from Spire Junior School, Sharley Park Community Primary School and New Bolsover Primary School to create stories and sounds linked to the seasons.

The artists will be on-site at the festival with the installation artwork and perform throughout the weekend.

Junction Arts Project Coordinator, Jemma Burton said: “The Garden of Imagination will provide an immersive, magical and memorable experience for our young visitors – exactly what we wanted for our first Chesterfield Children’s Festival!  We can’t wait to see children enjoying the interactive artwork at the event this summer.”

The Chesterfield Children’s Festival is a free event that will take place at Queen’s Park on the 29th and 30th July.  For more information click here:
