BACK CHAT BRASS

On Sunday the 30th of July, visitors can enjoy story time yoga with Poppins Presents, circus performances, Ling Peng Chinese storytelling, music from Mariachi Las Adelitas and Highly Strung, a string quartet, will play everyone’s favourite Disney songs.  Children can also have a go at the actual reality arcade games that will be available all day.

ACTUAL REALITY ARCADE

On both days, a specially commissioned art installation entitled, Garden of Imagination, will be on-site for children to explore and interact with. Taking the form of a children’s bedroom, visitors will be encouraged to explore the set, with lots of interactive elements for them to play with, including sound sensors and fantasy characters. There will also be live theatre performances, bringing the artwork to life.

Face painting, a glitter station, tie-dye workshops, clay workshops, circus skills, a slow-down space and the Ginger Cooks food van will be available across the weekend.  Each day there will be a live music performance in the town centre in New Square or Market Square.

The free family festival is a Junction Arts event, which has been funded by Arts Council England, to celebrate the joy of childhood, imagination, and play.

Junction Arts Project Coordinator, Jemma Burton said: “It’s less than one month to go until we stage our first Chesterfield Children’s Festival and excitement is building for what will be a brilliant weekend of arts and culture.

“We’ve lined up some talented performers that we hope will appeal to children of all ages. There will also be a good mix of activities to get involved in, from theatre to yoga, tie-dye to arcade games, there’s something for everyone!  Families do not need to book a ticket; they can simply turn up and have fun. We hope that this will become a much-loved annual event for the town, inspiring children, and young people for generations to come.”
