Derbyshire Creative Heritage Conference 2019: Resilience Through Collectivism
On the 17th May we delivered our second Derbyshire Creative Heritage Conference. Building on the success of the first event in 2017, our aim was to offer delegates from the arts and heritage sectors an opportunity to come together, to learn, to be inspired and to connect with other like-minded people.
On the 17th May we delivered our second Derbyshire Creative Heritage Conference. Building on the success of the first event in 2017, our aim was to offer delegates from the arts and heritage sectors an opportunity to come together, to learn, to be inspired and to connect with other like-minded people.
Entitled Resilience Through Collectivism the conference, hosted by our partners at Haarlem Artspace, looked at some of the different approaches we can take to strengthen both organisational and our personal resilience.
The event was fully booked and we welcomed delegates not only from across Derbyshire but also further afield and it was wonderful to see so many familiar faces as well as making new connections with some of the key people who make the Derbyshire arts and heritage offer so diverse and exciting.
Our speakers, Adam Buss, CEO of Derby Quad, Andy Perkin who heads up the Potteries Heritage Society, and representatives of the Instituto Procomum from Brazil, all engaged and enthused the audience with their presentations.
We also included two workshops in the programme, delivered by Lottie Ramdomly, founder of the Bristol based Resilience Lab and Paul Steele, MD of Junction Arts.
As a special treat to break up a busy day we invited Gareth Icke and Jamie Thrasivoulou to attend. A songwriter and poet respectively, they’re both involved in Constell8, a project developed by local musician Alex Blood. They closed the event with performances of two brand new pieces of work, inspired by what they had seen and heard.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in making this a truly wonderful event and look forward to keeping in touch with you all.
One way we will do this is via the Derbyshire Creative Heritage Network, a forum through which you can share good practice, your projects and your work with other members of the network. If you would like to become a member and submit a blog, follow this link. The conference programme, contributor biographies, presentations and workshops can be found by following this link.
