Highlights from Derbyshire Makes Bolsover

Bolsover town centre came alive this weekend as Derbyshire Makes Bolsover welcomed hundreds of people to a vibrant, free festival that celebrated the town’s proud making heritage.

The festival invited people of all ages and backgrounds to participate in 14 free workshops dotted across the town. Attendees explored their creativity through activities such as buckle making, willow weaving, acrylic pouring, and crafting sock bunnies.

The town was buzzing with energy thanks to the Teenage Market, where young makers showcased their handmade goods. Visitors were also treated to live performances from local singers and musicians. Local creativity was proudly displayed through a Lantern Trail featuring community-made lanterns and a banner-making exhibition that paid homage to Bolsover’s deep-rooted artistic traditions.

Festival-goers engaged with the town’s environmental and historical story through the English Heritage Conservation In Action Van, while the Local Textile Industry Exhibition at Bolsover Library offered a glimpse into the area’s rich making history.
