Junction Arts is one of the UK’s longest-running community arts charities, we’re almost 50! We help communities facing social barriers to create a better future through the arts. We rely on donations from businesses and individuals to allow us to continue this great work. But why should you support us? Our Relationship Fundraiser, Hannah Bowdler, has outlined five very good reasons why you need to work with us in 2025!
- We have a Proven Track Record of Community Impact
With nearly five decades of experience, Junction Arts has consistently created arts experiences that leave lasting social and personal impacts. Our projects tackle issues such as isolation, loneliness, and low aspirations, helping individuals and communities thrive across generations of residents. Annual projects, such as the Bolsover Lantern Parade, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2024, span generations of families, creating meaningful links to the places people live and traditions connecting communities together.

- Diverse and Inclusive Projects
Junction Arts offers a wide range of projects, working with and including all members of the community. The Junction Arts programme ranges from the “This Girl Codes”, a project empowering young women through technology and creativity, linking them with local heritage stories; “Cosy Crafts”, a fortnightly creative workshop for isolated and vulnerable individuals to meet in a safe space, to ‘The Chesterfield Children’s Festival’, a free weekend of fun for families with music, theatre, storytelling, dance and art workshops.
- Signature Festivals and Events
The charity is renowned for its free festivals and events that celebrate community and creativity. The annual Tapton Lock Festival and the Bolsover Lantern Parade, one of the UK’s longest-running light processions, are just a few examples of how Junction Arts brings people together through the arts.
In 2024, across Junction Arts four annual festivals, we welcomed audiences of 12,800!! In addition, 91% of the people we spoke to were from the local area to the festival.
- Commitment to Addressing Inequality
Junction Arts is dedicated to working in disadvantaged areas, using the arts as a tool to address inequality and inspire change. Our projects are cocreated with real people from the communities we work in and focus on providing participants with opportunities they might not otherwise have.

Whether you’re a business, artist or member of the community, Junction Arts offers numerous ways to get involved. Collaborating with or supporting Junction Arts provides a platform to contribute to meaningful projects that enrich the community and promote the arts.
