Junction Arts Launches Youth Board to Give Young People a Voice

Junction Arts is inviting young people aged 14–25 to apply for an exciting new Youth Board, placing the next generation at the heart of its creative and community work.

The Chesterfield-based arts charity, which celebrates its 50th birthday this year, is seeking passionate individuals who are eager to shape the future of the organisation, influence decision-making, and develop their own creative projects.

The Youth Board will offer members the opportunity to work directly with artists and the wider creative sector, gain valuable skills, and build confidence while contributing to meaningful community initiatives.

Emily Bowman, Managing Director of Junction Arts, said, “We believe that young people should have a real voice in shaping the arts and cultural opportunities available to them. Our Youth Board is about giving them that platform, to lead, to influence, and to create change in their communities. We’re excited to welcome a group of passionate young people who want to make a difference and grow with us.”

Successful applicants will take part in a Youth Board training day on Thursday 20th August (10am–4pm) at 37 Station Road, Chesterfield, followed by a programme of weekly online masterclasses throughout September. Regular monthly in-person meetings will begin in October.

Through the Youth Board, members will contribute to key areas including strategic guidance, shared leadership with staff and trustees, advocacy and campaigns, and participation in recruitment and training processes.

The initiative reflects Junction Arts’ commitment to ensuring its work is shaped by the real experiences and ideas of young people. Applications are now open, with a deadline of Friday 7th August at 6pm. For more information and to apply visit: https://junctionarts.org/join-our-youth-board/
