Christmas is a time to make memories and have fun with friends and family. This year Junction Arts is encouraging people to get together to be creative and bring the feel-good factor back into Christmas preparations. This is a short guide on how you can organise your own fun and relaxing evening making festive creations together, whilst raising money for a local charity that’s changing lives through the power of art!
Choose an activity and gather your supplies
Pick a craft that’s easy for everyone to do and looks effective when up, some ideas include:
- DIY Christmas Ornaments: Use simple materials like clear baubles, paint, glitter, and ribbons to create personalized ornaments.
- Christmas Cards: Let everyone design and create their own Christmas cards using coloured paper, stamps, markers, and stickers.
Keep the activity simple, so your friends can chat and enjoy themselves without too much pressure to make it perfect.
Don’t forget that you may need to cover your table with a protective cloth or paper to keep things tidy!
Create a Cosy Holiday Atmosphere
Make your home feel festive and welcoming:
- Put the Christmas tunes on.
- Light some candles or fairy lights for a warm glow.
- Decorate your space with a few festive touches like garlands, a Christmas tree, or ornaments.
Offer Snacks and Drinks
Get some treats in to keep everyone in the festive spirit. You could offer:
- Hot chocolate, mulled wine or try your own Christmas Cocktail.
- Open up the chocolate tin, a plate of mince pies, or gingerbread for a sweet snack.
- What is a get-together without cheese and crackers?!
You could ask your guests to each bring their favourite festive snack or drink to share.
Keep It Casual and Fun
Hosting a craft night with friends is all about having fun and enjoying each other’s company, here’s a couple of tips to help set the mood:
- Give a quick demo of the craft at the start, but don’t worry about perfection. Our craft packs come with paper ‘how to’s’ and video tutorials.
- Encourage creativity: Let everyone do their own thing, and don’t stress about the final product.
- Just have fun! It’s more about the experience than the crafts themselves, so keep laughing and enjoying each others company.
