The Chesterfield Postcard Show Is Back For Its Fifth Year
Chesterfield’s much-loved exhibition of mini masterpieces is back, celebrating its fifth anniversary with a special showcase of original artwork created by local artists.<
Organised by Junction Arts in partnership with local artist Dave Elsom, the Chesterfield Postcard Show raises vital funds for community arts projects across the town. Last year’s exhibition supported an additional three months of the charity’s regular “Cosy Crafts” warm space sessions, which provide free creative activities for people experiencing loneliness and isolation during the cost-of-living crisis.
This year’s exhibition will run from Junction Arts’ new home and creative hub, located at 37 Station Road in Chesterfield town centre. Visitors will have the opportunity to purchase postcard-sized artworks, created by both professional artists and members of the local community, for just £10 each.
Since its launch in 2021, the Chesterfield Postcard Show has displayed nearly 1,500 mini artworks and raised more than £3,500 to support local community arts initiatives. To mark the five-year milestone, Junction Arts has collaborated with over 40 local artists, each contributing an original A6 postcard-sized piece. The collection will feature a diverse range of media, including illustration, textiles, printmaking, and digital art.
Also new for this year, on Saturday 9th May, visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to get creative themselves with a Postcard Show Art Club, run by Dave Elsom. The session is suitable for all ages and abilities and costs just £5 per person.
This year’s show has been sponsored by Andy Wilson, owner of Chesterfield’s Full and Frank Mental Health Presentations.
