Nesting - Brimington Public Art

Junction Arts and Vistry Homes worked together to create new public art at their Brimington Heights housing development in Chesterfield.

After an open call process artists Adrian Riley and Annabel McCourt were commissioned to work together on the new public realm artwork. The artwork’s aim is to welcome new home-owners and visitors alike as well as highlighting and encouraging the use of the footpaths and cycleways that run throughout the site.

In November 2022 Junction Arts and the commissioned artists worked with Brimington Junior School’s three Year 5 classes over four days, creating artwork that was directly incorporated into the final artwork.  The children worked with the artists to create clay panels inspired by the idea of home, nesting, nature and industry. The clay panels will later be cast in concrete and form sides of the public art pieces. The children also experimented with colour and wordplay.
